Dear EGEAns,
The call for articles for our European Geographer is opened. The topic for the sixth edition will be:
Diversity

We would like to invite YOU to contribute articles to the sixth issue of the European Geographer!
You can send in articles about EGEA, Geography and Diversity.
This time there will be 2 main sections:
• EGEA articles
Perhaps something about an event you attended and you want to tell everything/everyone about… Now is the chance to WRITE!
• Scientific articles
Perhaps you have just finished your thesis or attended an Egea workshop, or you’re working on an amazing project at your university. We would like
you to write something about this! Don’t hesitate! Now is the chance to WRITE!
------
About the theme:
Diversity is everywhere. To start with EGEA. This is a very wide theme in which you can place topics like landscape diversity, demographics,
biodiversity, political diversity and even more! If you have done research or other work that is somehow connected to this topic and you would like to
be published in an international magazine, you are very welcome to send us an article about it.
------
Promote an upcoming event?
Furthermore there’s space to promote upcoming activities! We have space for PROMOTION! Do you want to promote any activity that’s taking place
after August, send us a poster or a short text with some pictures about the event!
Please send a proposal/abstract to the editors first! Be creative and help us to publish a fabulous 6th edition
!
• The deadline for all articles is 17th of May 2010!
• Articles have to be in English.
• Text has to be send in MS word, do not worry about the lay-out.
• Up to three pages for egea/ general articles, up to six pages for scientific articles (Arial, 1,5 spacing, font size 12)
• Pictures have to be send separately from the text in the highest resolution possible.
• Make sure we have the publishing rights for the article, pictures and graphics.
Please send your articles to egea.magazine@egea.eu.
You can post your comments or questions about the magazine in this topic !
We hope for many good articles!
Best wishes,
The European Geographer's editorial board

Is there already a deadline foreseen for the call for articles?
Btw. I like this picture much better than that with the 25 flags on the mainpage-news. Would be great if you can change this as national flags are in
my point of view only a narrow expression of Europe's diversity and EGEA also consists of many more "flags" than of EU-25.

I will hand in an article about "Territorial Diversity of Europe" - similar to my lecture at NBRC2010 next month. |

That's great. Lole! The topic fits perfectly to the theme of the next EG
issue!
And talking of pictures: We also need a nice Cover Picture for the coming issue.
So, if you have a good one, send it to us: egea.magazine@egea.eu |

Hi guys!
I agree with Lole about the picture - the one you put here is more representative than the one on the main page with the flags. Besides that, the
picture is not updated - since 1 January 2007 EU has 27 member states (including Romania and Bulgaria), and not 25, as the number of the flags
shows... |

hello!
I see my proposal was most popular
so, Diversity can give a lot of freedom in writing articles
I will try as well to involve and make advices through EGEA Moldova members.
good luck with EG ! |

Hey guys,
as the year 2010 is the UN year of Biodiversity (see: http://www.cbd.int/2010/welcome/) and as I am working in one large research-project about biodiversity (http://www.biodiversity-exploratories.de) I can very well imagine to write
an article.
@editors: let me know, if you are interested

Hi Inge & all editors,
thx for confirming my idea and for the additional facts mentioned above.
Could you tell me (us) how many pictures/graphic-items per page are "allowed"?

Hello Maren,
We don't really have a strict guideline for this yet, but as for the upcoming weekend we will discuss some guidelines for authors (so you have some
idea how to write your article).
As for now, I would like to say, that we appreciate more graphs and pictures, since it really clarifies your text and makes it more readable!
As to quantify the amount, I would say that 3/4 pictures/graphs would be sufficient for an article that's up to six pages. However, if you need more
graphs pictures, there's always room to discuss this. |

Hey guys!
We extended the deadline for sending in articles to May 17th 2010. Besides interesting scientific articles about diversity topics we
would like to have some nice reports on EGEA activities such as congresses, national weekends or exchanges. So, do not hestitate and write an article
for your favourite magazine! |

hey,
The cover-picture for EG6: is it also allowed to work on the photo with graphic-programs, or is it obligatory to have a "natural" picture?
greets,
