You are all invited for the EGEA-sports-event of the century: the world’s largest relay combined with one of Europe’s biggest student
parties! Last year Egea’s team “hej, hej, hej, leert die Gläser” was a big success. Therefore, we as EGEA Nijmegen will be your host again this
year for the Batavierenrace. We hope to welcome you all in the oldest city of the Netherlands.
On Saturday midnight, the 24th of April 2010 the 38th edition of the Batavierenrace will start. This annual event is a student relay race organized in
the Netherlands. It is a 185 km race starting off at the Radboud University Nijmegen and it takes the up to 8000 participants in 25 stages through
Germany to the campus of the University of Twente in Enschede. There are 17 men's stages and 8 women's stages varying from 3.4 km to 11.9 km, over
paved and unpaved terrain. More than 300 teams participate in this race.
It was listed in 2006, in the Guinness World Records as the relay race with the highest number of participants. Although mainly a Benelux event, teams
from all over the world participate. What is truly unique about this race is the mixture of competitive elements as well as the social aspects. At
midnight on the 24th of April, the race starts and then the first runners will dive into the night for their heroic battle against the elements. This
is the beginning of 18 hours of sportsmanship. When you complete this heroic battle the well deserved beer(s) will be waiting for you… In brief, a
nice opportunity to be out with your fellow Egeans for a few days and definitely a great experience!
When:
The opening ceremony will be on Friday, the 23rd of April, with a dinner with all the participants. After you survived the party, we will say goodbye
on Sunday, the 25th in the morning. However, for those who are interested it is also possible to come on Thursday to explore the city- and nightlife
of Nijmegen.
Costs:
40 Euro’s
Registration:
The registration closed on the 15th of November.

haha yes that was hilarious! Let's see if we can make it to the tv again this year.
Btw it is really good to see all those applications coming in, and also from many different entitities. But there is still room for more athletic
EGEA'ns, who know how to party! So don't hesitate to sign up!

Put me on the list for a reasonable distance... Is it a problem if you're not a student anymore .
Well officially you have to be a student, or otherwise a student who has graduated in the year preceding the race. However, nobody ever checks it, so
I don't think that will be a problem. Only if you look like you're 50, people may start to ask some questions, but luckily you look definitely younger
than 40
Good question! The 40 euro includes:
- Participation in the race
- All transportation during the race (we will rent a minivan)
- Dinner after the race (24th of April)
- Breakfast 25th of April in the morning
- Beverages and food for during the race.
- Sleeping places
This means that you are pretty much only responsible for the amount of beer that you drink during the party.

Great! I'm convinced!
I didn't do it. Nobody saw me do it. You can't prove anything.
