EUROGEO is the European Association of Geographers (http://www.eurogeography.eu/) and they would like to work together with EGEA to advance the status of geography.

EUROGEO is established by HERODOT members. EGEA has strong links with HERODOT, the HERODOT project is now in its final phase. EGEA members joined conferences of HERODOT and EGEAns contributed to the working groups of HERODOT (see for example www.geo-cube.eu) and we jointly organised a succesful film competition to promote geography (http://www.egea.eu/forum/topic/3990/2) .

EUROGEO would like to continue this cooperation and even make the ties with EGEA stronger.

This could be benefitial to EGEA in many ways, for example:
- Organising joint events
- promotion of EGEA among EUROGEO members, for example to encourage universities to support their local EGEA entity or to establish EGEA entities at Universities currently without an EGEA entity
- make links between each others members, for example for work placements, PhD positions etc.
- giving EGEA members the possibility to publish research papers in a reviewed online magazine
- and in the long term EUROGEO might even be able to support EGEA financially

EUROGEO will organise a seminar on Geography and Sustainablity in Prague in May 2010. There is the idea to organise an EGEA reunion at or next to this event. So (old) EGEAns could meet each other, meet EUROGEO and elaborate possiblities for further cooperation with EUROGEO.

So old and new EGEAns, Alumni, BoE and new BoE, what do you think about this idea?

Harry Rogge, Secretary General of EUROGEO, will speak at the Annual Congress in Heeg, so we could discuss the ideas for an EGEA reunion further. All input is welcome!

We didn't discuss this proposal so much, so we are still waiting if people are interested in setting up a Dinosaurs & Alumni activity parallel to the Prague meeting...

It's going on!

An EGEA alumni reunion and a EUROGEO seminar from the 6th or 7th of May till the 9th in Prague.

An excellent opportunity to meet geographers from all over Europe, to present your scientific work, to meet and party with your old EGEA friends and to explore the great city of Prague.

Find out more about the seminar on http://www.eurogeography.eu/conference/prague/prague.html

More information on the EGEA reunion will follow soon at this website.

Looks nice! EGEA Alumni appears as one of the official organizers! ^O^
Who of us is preparing this conference?

The theme "Sustainable Geographies" offers active participation of geographers of all fields, I'm sure.
It's still the guiding principle e.g. for the new long term spatial planning perspective of Austria 2011.
Also the call deadline of 9th of April is nice. No hectic needed for handing in abstracts. :)

I made a note into my calendar. Date and place seem to be fine for me.

Of course it would be great to have an EGEA Alumni reunion soon!

@gert: Can you please provide a link to past events of Eurogeo? Just to get an impression how big those conferences are and how they work. Thanks!
Always yours, masterlole.

Until now Roman (Prague), Vita (Vilnius), Sven (Brussels) and me (Utrecht) are preparing the EGEA Prague event, supported by EGEA-Alumni, the Scientific Committee and the BoE. But everybody is still welcome to join the organising team.

The EUROGEO launch event was in Turkey, Vita and me were present there from EGEA.
here you can find the conference website
and here you find the conference proceedings

Clemens was even one of the invited speakers at the Liverpool conference, and he gave a knock-out presentation I've heared. And indeed, EUROGEO is some kind of follow-up association for HERODOT.

Jazzy, you are very welcome to join the event! We plan to start the registration this week. For now I hope to bring at least 20 EGEAns together, but if more people want to come we will create more places. The registration will probably work on a 'first come/first serve' basis, with a few reserved places for the core group of alumni and BoE members. So if you register on time, your place is guaranteed. (I'll send you a message when I know when the registration will be open).

It seems to be very interesting....however I feel a kind of conference-tiredness at the moment. But next to having an opportunity to present some thoughts on current work the EGEA-alumni reunion sounds good as well (and Prague is not so far away).

hmmm....undecided yet |;?

We are happy to announce the opening of the registration for the EGEA reunion combined with a EUROGEO seminar in Prague.

The event will take place from Friday the 7th of May till Sunday the 9th of May. All young and older EGEAns are warmly invited!
Whether you are interested in presenting your scientific work, the work of EGEA alumni, the future of geography and geographers in Europe or you just like to meet your EGEA friends, please join us in Prague.

We have chosen a centrally located accommodation, set up a preliminary program and we had a close look at the expected expenses.
The price for the weekend will be 95 Euro, that includes the full program including the seminar, accommodation, all meals and a great geographical fieldtrip. You can register until the first of April. Please check the attachment for more information.

Please apply before the 1st of April by sending the application form in the attachment to egea@egea.eu.

Hope to see you in Prague!

Best wishes,

Vita, Roman, Sven, Claudia and Gert

Just got the message that our German-Dutch EGEA couple from Enschede wants to participate and present.

That's great news again!

This week the promotion campaign will be fully launched. And the scientific committee has got some great ideas to make this event even better!

And a message for all EGEAns: Please join! I know there are all kinds of great events coming up, but we are also with many EGEAns. So consider this event too, and put it in your local newsletter or other communications.

More news coming soon...!

Hi Gert & organizers,

same question like Johannes: how about the fee, if I would have my "own" accomodation?

and is there maybe a preliminary participants list available :Y ?

:W
there can be only ONE: MS-Xmas-special-TM
...it's always ICErs-time :)
