Hi all,
I'll be crossing Scotland (mostly the highlands) with a friend in August, by mountainbike. Right now we're planning our route, but we don't have any
(topographic) maps yet...
Does anyone of you have a digital version of these topographic maps? Or, where we could buy these as cheap as possible?
Thanks,
Sven |

Hi Sven,
With our student organisation we went for a 9 day tour trough scotland, so we have maps of scotland, enough. Me and Marijn can bring them to Berlin by

Nice that you'll be going to scotland. Be aware of the midges. Sometimes biking in scotland is much nicer in the rain because these bugs will leave
you alone then. Appart from the midges, the higlands are beautifull!
My Do's and don'ts:
Do:glen affrik, Iles of sky (take a left at Ford William and take the ferry) and Handa bird island (Probably way to far norh but worthwhile to
mention)
If you have time constraints: visit Iles of Arran for a couple of days. It really is Scotland in miniature.
Don't: Loch ness (big and boring) and try to avoid the A82. Even by car it is a deadly road.
Good luck and I like to know how it is to travel by bike in scotland. It is something I am thinking about to. Was there last year by car and I was
glad we took the bikes with us.
Cheers! |

Hi Sven,
We got hold of three maps from our study association (they don't know yet, though). 1:250,000 covering the whole of Scotland.
I suppose that the midges will only bother you when you're not moving. |
