Coming April EGEA will once again participate in the most legendary student race of Europe. Every year a total amount of 8.500 athletes take part in
the race, thanks to this the race is mentioned in the Guiness Book of Records as the largest relay race in the world! We hope to set a new record ourselves by having the best
ranking of EGEA ever! (Does anyone actually know what the best ranking is up until now? )
After the race we will join the biggest student party of Europe at the campus of Twente/Enschede University!
After last year's teaming up with another student association from Utrecht we decided to try to form an All-EGEA-team like the years before last year.
We hope to fill the 25 places in the team with only EGEAns. There are places for 17 gentlemen and 8 ladies.
For the ones who are not familiar with the race:
The Batavierenrace is a relay race between Nijmegen and Enschede. 25 persons
will run a total amount of 175 kilometers, true Nijmegen, a small area of Germany and eventually Enschede. The length of the stages differ from ± 3
km to 11 km.
Do you like to run and do you want to be part of the biggest relay race in Europe? And... The biggest student party in Europe, afterwards at the
campus of Enschede University?! Please, sign up and be part of a wonderful weekend!
By the way:
Any suggestions for a team name are welcome! Please post them on the forum and we will check if we can try to change our current team name, because we
already had to sign up the team
After the race, on Saturday the 28th of April 2012, the biggest student party in the Benelux will take place, with an estimate of 12,000 visitors! The
party is situated on different locations of the University of Twente in Enschede and is organized by The Student Union and other parties.
Greetings!
I found this post through a collegue of mine,
the race itself sounds very interesting!
I'm not sure what level of physical preparation you require from someone to be on the team, and wether you accept or not people from a bit more
"distant" countries, like Romania in my case.
My life's sport is orienteering, which means I run a lot in forests and on mountains, 80% offroad.
My best times so far measured exactly:
-10km- 36:37
-21km- 79:19
I prefer long distances.

Sweet. I'm not that good in long distance run. Last time 5000 m in 18:12 min
Looks fine to me, but you could of course pick a shorter distance if you want to
my next run (4550m) is on sylvester evening. I'll record the time. The problem is not running a long distance, but running a long distance in a good
time.
