COMMITTEES OPEN CALL 2010/2011
is now officially open
Committees are small, voluntarily formed groups of motivated members, working on improvement of egea's
performance in specific fields. During the whole year the committees support the board and provide
feedback. The Committees should also function as the drive for change and innovation in
egea.
Being active in a Committee means having a great chance to develop new ideas and, using your creativity to make our association better. It’s simply
about seeing the problems, analyzing them and in the end proposing the solutions, programs or strategies.
There is also the social side – work in an international team, sharing your ideas, discussing, meeting each other, having lots of fun and
possibility to be part of the specific identity. It’s also a great opportunity for your personal development, discovering and learning.
Below you will find the Committees to which you can apply for the upcoming year:
- Activities Committee
- Communication & Media Committee
- Entity Support Committee
- Fundraising Committee
- Human Resources & Training
- Scientific Committee
- Website Committee
Also, you can apply for other Bodies of EGEA, such as:
- European Geographer Editorial Board
- Financial Control Commission
You can subcribe by sending a motivation letter to committees@egea.eu
. Please state your name, your egea nickname, your entity and why you’d like to be part of a committee or other bodies.
There will be 2 rounds for applications:
- 1. Online Open Call: For all EGEAns, but especially for those not attending the Annual Congress, you can send the motivation letter
to the e-mail above, by SEPTEMBER 15th.
- 2. Committees Fair: provides an opportunity to meet with members of this year’s committee, ask questions and get more feedback
about the committee you are interested in. Also, it is possible to register for a committee during the fair and the motivation letter has to be sent
until October 5th.
NOTE: This year’s committee members who wish to be part of the same committee next year as well, we’d like to invite them to
reapply by sending a new motivation letter to the same e-mail provided above.
In the posts below you will find a short description about each body of EGEA. If you would have any questions concerning the
committees or other bodies, you can ask them in this topic. Also, the current committees have been invited to promote themselves on this topic as well
or on the committee homepage.
Click on this forum topic of the Open Call and
place your comments and comments
Please find below the minutes of the last BoE live meeting, which took place in Serbia. We recommend all committees to read them as this would help
them prepare for their next e-meetings.

A few months ago, we were offered the opportunity of promoting ourselves and our field of study by writing an introduction article about geography &
EGEA, for an e-magazine. The company which publishes it is called ISA Media and the name of the magazine is i-LASH.
This link will take you the magazine: Geography
& EGEA in i-LASH. Click on the cover of Volume 6, 2010 to open the magazine. Our article is at page 16, but you can also access it
you if click on the name "Introducing Geography in Europe" from "i-LASH Contents".
With this note, we'd also like to thank all of you who have sent us information about your university programs and have contributed to this
kind of external promotion of EGEA. Unfortunately, due to word limitation we were able to include only a part of it.
if you have any questions or comments, likes or dislikes, please feel free to post them on this forum topic. Your feedback would be very greatly appreciated, for future reference.
Egea Leuven invites 20 Egeans (own participants not included!) to have a "Leuvely Time" in October!
This event includes two parts:
- The brain enriching part: participation in the congress "Belgian Geography Days" with 2 workshops, 2 presentations of international speakers and a
city tour for geographers @ Leuven
- The brain damaging part: the day after, we'll have some fun from Friday evening until Sunday early afternoon. We provide accomodation and food for
20 egeans.

Every EGEAn can order a free copy of ESRI's 1-year ArcView Student Licence software, though some countries have to pay a minor administration and
shipping fee. This is how it will work:
1. As an EGEAn you contact the #1 contact person of your entity. Tell him/her that you are interested in the ESRI software. Then give him/her the
following data:
• your full name
• faculty name
• home address
• student ID#
2. The #1 contact persons gather this information and when they have a list with a minimum of 10 persons he/she can order the software at the local
distributor. The contatcpersons recieved a U2U with the file needed to find the contact person you should direct to, at your own local distributor.
3. Furthermore the #1 contact person should contact the local distributor to find out if there is a fee for each license. It is the responsibility of
the contact person to collect the money from the members and pay the distributor. The payment has to happen before the shipment of the software to the
university will take place.
4. The contact person sends the order list (including his/her own data) with a general address where the software can be shipped to. Be aware of the
fact that the distributor will check with the European EGEA secretariat if this person really is the #1 contact person.
5. After sending the list, the order will be reviewed and the package with all the licences will be send to one general adress, provided by the #1
contact person. It can take up to 2 weeks before you will receive the software. He/she will be responsible for distributing the software to the
EGEAns.
if there are any questions, please post them on the secretariat forum or contact Jelle
by U2U!
CP's: Please click on the link below for the info for ordering the software!
