EGEA Jena

ABOUT JENA

Jena is a historic city in eastern Germany, situated in a narrow valley along the Saale River and surrounded by limestone hills. Its geography combines urban development with steep slopes, forests, and vineyards that shape both climate and land use. The city is internationally known for Friedrich Schiller University Jena (FSU), a major research institution with strong traditions in science, humanities, and innovation.

ABOUT OUR ACTIVITIES

Weekly Meetings

We meet once a week to socialize, plan exchanges and congresses or just to have fun together. In 2025, we organised a Mapathon, a Geoguessr Event, a Running Dinner and a Swiss night with Fondue.

Congresses

Our entity members attend the three Regional Congresses as well as the Annual Congress, and we are actively involved in organizing congresses, such as the Western Regional Congress 2023 and the Annual Congress 2025.

Exchanges

We take part in student exchanges with other EGEA entities across Europe, such as EGEA Brno and EGEA Kraków. During these exchanges, we explore the host city, go on hiking or cultural trips, and cook together.

Other events

Besides the congresses, we go hiking, biking, and canoeing on the Saale River. We also take part in scientific conferences, alpine weekends with outdoor activities, and karstic weekends exploring karst landscapes.
