PAS 2: Danube Delta Summer Camp

The Danube Delta has been part of the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites since 1991 and is the youngest and most actively expanding piece of land in Romania. It is also considered a Protected Area by the Romanian Government, since 1938, due to its richness and unique geological and ecological aspects. This small piece of land represents the perfect ecosystem for several species of animals and plants, some very rare worldwide.
The Danube Delta Summer Camp represents the continuation of the Protected Areas Seminar organized by EGEA Bucharest in 2009.
The event will take place between July 22nd – July 27th 2011 in the village of Sfantu’ Gheorghe, Tulcea district, Romania.
This will be a scientific event in the shape of a summer camp, mainly because we want to blend in with the local environment of the delta. Therefore, we invite you to join us for a 5 days experience in the Danube Delta. We’ll be staying in small but comfortable houses in a camping, which is also close to the Black Sea, we’ll be cooking our meals, we’ll learn about the Delta during workshops and assignments, we’ll discover it via excursions, we’ll experience the life style of the Delta, we’ll socialize with the people in the village of Sfantul Gheorghe and last but not least, we’ll have fun.
Due to the fact the the access in the Danube Delta is both difficult and expensive, we can only provide 15 places for participants.
The participation fee is 95 euros and includes accommodation in Sf. Gheorghe, food, workshops, excursions and parties. The fee doesn't include transportation from your departure place to Sfantu Gheorghe, but EGEA Bucharest will provide all information regarding means of transport to the event place. Also, please check the "How to get there" section.
