• Theme of EuroMed Regional Congress is „Sustainable development – opportunity, challenge and future“. Sustainable development has different meanings and definitions, but lately that type of development is direction of global economic system development. From the Beginning, humanity is using resources of nature for survival and development. Results of different developments has raised quality of living and had effect on number of inhabitants that has rapidly grown in last century to more than 6 billions. Consequences using resources of nature in same type like before are unacceptable. Because of that we need acceptable type of development. Sustainable development upgrades quality of life, living inside carrying capacity of ecosystem. This is simple but clear meaning of sustainable development without needs of next generations because we can not evaluate social needs in the future.

• Why is that opportunity, challenge and future? If we want to our kids and next generations provide the Nature like today than sustainable development is our future! Opportunity is because there is a lot of not changed Nature with resources that should be use in qualitative, not quantitative way.

• Environment, population and economy are three elements that are included in sustainable development, witch is not possible global if nothing is doing local. To find solution that suits for all three elements is very hard and complicated, because government and society has the main role in it and that is why sustainable development is challenge

• Participants of congress will contribute in several workshops connected to sustainable development. By excursions and field trips, during workshops they will learn about spatial situation and problems in Dalmatia, region of Croatia. During sport activities and free time they will make new friends and get to know each other (different cultures and nations)
