The AAG invites you to begin making plans to attend the 2010 AAG Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, for the very latest in research, policy, and
applications in geography, sustainability, and GIScience. The conference will be held April 14–18, 2010, at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.
In addition to research and scholarly presentations, the 2010 meeting also will feature opportunities for interactions with government agencies and
will include keynote speakers from prominent nonprofit groups and influential international organizations located in the nation’s capital. The

We want to invite you to the next Western Regional Congress 2010 which takes place in Tyrol and is concerned with an important area in Europe – the
fusion of societies and nature in the Alps.
The 20th WRC is themed "Living in the Alps – challenges and solutions for a vulnerable world"!
Our goal is an interdisciplinary endeavour to find solutions to diverse and actual challenges concerning the region.
By keeping the key concepts of the AC 2009 - Innovation and Professionalism - in our mind, we want to combine techniques with projects and concepts,
combine physical geography with human, environmental and regional geography, geoinformatics and other fields related to them.
There will be eight workshops dealing with different themes and challenges.

The Future of Geography: Europe Under Construction
The annual congress of 2009 will take place from the 27th of september till the 2nd of october 2009 in Heeg, located in the Frysian Lake district.
There will be approximately 10 workshops and 186 places. At the moment, we are very busy with arranging the workshops, excursions and lectures. Follow

In the central part of Serbia, on the Goc mountain, 170 km southern from Belgrade, EGEA Beograd & EGEA Novi Sad will organize EGEA EuroMed

NORTH AND BALTIC REGIONAL CONGRESS 2009 will be held in Vilnius, Lithuania
The main theme of the congress is "Brave Lithunia. Image", dedicated to the reason, that in 2009 our country will celebrate 1000 years of the official
name .
There will be 6 workshops organized for you. (more information are comming )
the congress place will be located, 50 kilometers west from Vilnius.
Besides workshops, we are going to organize one day with few excursions conected with workshops.
The participants number is around 50 + 15 organizers and particpation fee won't exceed 70 euros

EGEA Athens announces to our partners that our newest project Europeans: Who are We? was approved
by the Education and Culture DG and will be co-funded by the European Union. This project is incepted on the principle of promoting Europe's great
cultural diversity and is constituent part of Greek national projects for the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue (EYID) 2008,
aiming at mobilizing youth people to learn from different cultural traditions.
The Project
European Simulation Game will take place in Ios and Santorini islands, in Southern Aegean, starting from October, 7th (Tue.) in Ios,
ending on October, 14th (Tue.) in Santorini island. The event is itinerant: we will spend 3 nights in Ios and 4 nights in
Santorini.
Project partners are the following countries: Austria, Cyprus, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovenia
and Spain. Each partner team will participate with a team composed of 5 persons; 4 young participants + one team leader.
The European Commission sponsorship will cover 70% of actual travel costs (airport/train tickets, boat fares, metro/bus tickets). It
will also cater partly for covering accommodation and boarding and transfer between Ios and Santorini. All new EU
YOUTH projects must be co-financed, therefore participants are expected to contribute towards their respective programme costs.
Contribution per participant is currently estimated at 120 EUR.
All participants will be awarded a YOUTHPASS, a certificate describing and validating
their non-formal learning experience.

Located in the capital of Santorini, Fira, and overlooking the Caldera and the volcano, the Conference Center is at a wonderful location.
The Petros M. Nomikos Conference Centre was inaugurated in 1989, with the 3rd International Archeological Congress entitled 'Thera and the Aegean
World', organized by The Thera Foundation. It is a neoclassical building, restored for its specific use.
The Conference Center is divided in many conference halls, of a capacity up to 220 people.
The 20th anniversary EGEA Annual Congress will take place in the north-western part of Russia in Pskov region at
14-19th of September 2008.
We're glad that Moscow entity initiative to become an organizers of this activity found a support among EGEA members. AC 2008 workshops will tackle
a problems and perspectives of Russia and the EU multi-facet dialogue – the main topic of congress is formulated as “Russia and the EU
contact zones: improving the relations”.
It should be emphasized also that the next Annual Congress images the EGEA boundaries extending trend, cause it’ll be the most eastern AC in the

Locality seems rather forgotten, compared to Globalization, during discussions about the future of Europe. This
project intends to synthesize the European experience on Local Development, throught the eyes of Youth. Which are the difficulties faced? Who is
excluded from it? What conflicts emerge and how the EC intervenes to resolve them? Finally, does discovering new landscapes lead us to better knowing

The main goal of the Congress is to gather representatives of the biggest number of different universities from Eastern Europe as well as from other
regions for representation of Ukraine and Kyiv and to provide the informational exchange between participants.
Our idea is also to make geographical overview of Eastern European Region and to see the changes that happened in it in the XXIrst century. We would
like you to get an image of present Eastern Europe, its geography (both physical and human), to see how the map has changed and, perhaps, try to make
some suggestions of further development of the region.
The congress will take place at a distance of 20 km. from the centre of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. All the participants will be hosted in the
Sanatorium “Slavutych”, in the recreation zone called Puscha-Vodytsia.
To get to Kyiv you can take direct train and airlines from almost all European capitals. You can also come to the Ukrainian border and go to Kyiv from
L’viv or Chop. Then you will be taken to the place of hosting by the organizing team.

These are the formalities, that will make you stay in Moscow much more pleasant and with no problems at all:
1. Please write EXACT days of your stay in Moscow in your application forms! If someone wants to change it - you have to do it before the registration
closes (before we start sending invitations.) We need it for the invitations.
2. Don't forget to send the copies of your PASSPORTS, because without them we won't be able to make invitations and registrations for you. Those, who
haven't sent them yet - do it as quickly as possible.
3. After we publish the list of participants you have to send money to our bank account till the 10th of December. This must be done really very fast,
because we can miss the time because of the Xmas and NewYear holidays. It would be better if you could send money from the whole entity at one time.
So, the time limit for money is 10th of December!!!
4. Our authorities asked to pay additional 7 euro to make the invitation and the registration in Moscow (not to have problems with Moscow policemen).
So please pay attention that the final fee for the congress is 67 euro.
5. The cancellation of participating (just in case - we understand that noone will do that stupid thing ) should be done till the 26th of January.

Hello egeans! We're happy to announce another EGEA activity for the next
year!
The entities EGEA-Munich, Vienna and Bern organize an EGEA Alps-Seminar in
June 2005!
The theme of the seminar is "The Alps" and will include social & physical
geographical workshops and activities, ranging from exhausting mountain
marches (highest mountains nearby are ~ 2000-2500 m) to trips to the
alps-foreland, history, culture ....
The location will be in an old farmhouse in the "Kleinwalsertal" (Austria),
which is almost in the middle of all three entities.
The seminar is sheduled from 17-22 June 2005, which is between the RCs and
the AC, so there's no rivalry by dates, and we hope to fill the EGEA
summer-hole with this event.* ;-)
We have place for 60 participants and subscription will start in the
beginning of 2005.

The topic of the congress gonna be: "Think Global - Act Local: The crossborder cooperation as the element of integration in Europe"
The place was chosen in a the beautifull High Tatras in the Nothern part of Slovakia. We arranged there a place for about 60 geographers. The term of
the congress is going to be in March from 14th till 18th, 2005.
This activity is aimed to get together different entities. Between 4 and 8 people per entity are invited. We will discuss about different spatial
conflicts in our area through visits, debates and speeches such as the littoral urbanisation and mass tourism development, the gentrification in the
city centre, the conflict between citizens and NGOS versus administration and construction firms to build near a the Albufera natural park and over
the traditional landscape of "L'Horta", the water conflict in the Mediterranean... We will have the great background of the local major fest and we
will combine the visit of Valencia and its metropolitan area and a rural county near Castilla.
